3D Metrology Services – Medical – Posterior Fixation Surgical Tooling Inspection

EDM Intelligent Solutions can provide our customers with high-resolution, precise, and accurate measurements of intricately shaped components utilizing our 3D Metrology Systems. Our 3D Metrology Services team offers non-contact and non-destructive verification of dimensions on piece parts of all shapes, sizes, and forms.

Below are some examples of our measurement capabilities on a Reline Rod Facilitator. This inspection included measurements of radii, height steps, feature positions, and surface profile tolerance. The form inspection and 3D measurements of this component were completed using our MVi5 3D Metrology Center.

3D Form Measurements of Reline Rod Facilitator

This 3D scan visualization displays a "Step Height Distance" measurement, indicating a nominal value of +0.4450 and an actual measured value of +0.4437, with a deviation of -0.0013. The measurement is taken between two points labeled "Step Height Top" and "Step Height Bottom" using two intersecting green planes, likely within a CAD or metrology software.

The image displays a 3D scan of a mechanical part, with superimposed measurement data. A blue plane labeled 'Step Height Top' is positioned above a cylindrical feature. Callouts indicate measurements for 'Distance from Cylinder 2 Center to Step Height Top Plane' and 'Cylinder 2 Diameter'. The 'Distance' measurement shows a nominal value of +0.2000, an actual value of +0.2011, and a deviation of +0.0011. The 'Cylinder 2 Diameter' has a nominal value of +0.2430, an actual value of +0.2429, and a deviation of -0.0001. A coordinate system is visible in the lower left corner.

This image displays a 3D scan of a component alongside a detailed 2D metrology report. The report analyzes critical dimensions such as radii and X-axis distances from a datum center to various points (Radius 1, 2, 3, and 4) on the component. It presents nominal values, actual measured values, and deviations, indicating the precision of the manufactured part. For instance, Radius 4 has a nominal value of 0.0320 and an actual measurement of 0.0324, resulting in a deviation of 0.0004. Similarly, the X-axis distance from Datum A Center to Radius 3 Center shows a nominal value of 0.1800 and an actual value of 0.1787, with a deviation of -0.0013. The visual representation on the right, with intersecting blue lines originating from 'Datum A Center' and extending to circular indicators representing the radii centers, complements the numerical data.
