EDM Department specializes in Sinker EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) is also referred to as Conventional or Ram EDM. Sinker EDM offers the ability to produce complex shapes without inducing stresses into the material and provides low-risk machining solutions for dies, molds, or parts with previous machining or labor hours. This process is ideal for any company looking to minimize machining risk with accuracy and reliability.

What’s the difference between Sinker EDM & Wire EDM?

Unlike wire EDM, sinker EDM does not cut all the way through the material (unless desired), resulting in a wider variety of applications, such as blind cavities/keyways, thin walls, or cross sections. This versatility makes sinker EDM an efficient technology for stamping dies and injection molds. Our vast library of EDM generator technologies offers the best surface finishes available in a multitude of materials. With Smart Manufacturing, the state-of-the-art machining center with integrated 3D measurement center allows for self-optimized performance through high resolution, non-contact 3D metrology fully integrated into a precision machine tool. This innovative processing method eliminates clamping errors and has the potential to increase machining accuracy fourfold.
